Created by political prisoners for political prisoners

We provide support to rebuilds lives

About us

The Association of Political Prisoners of Belarus (APB) was founded in August 2023 by former political prisoners as a grassroots initiative to support victims of political repression and their families. On May 21, 2024, APB achieved legal registration in Lithuania, allowing it to expand its activities and impact.

APB operates on the principle of “peer-to-peer support”, connecting those who have endured repression with resources and opportunities for recovery. Guided by personal experience, we deeply understand the challenges faced by political prisoners and their families, especially those in forced exile.

Our Mission

Our mission is to defend human rights, provide relief to those impacted by political repression, and help them reclaim their lives.

We are committed to:

  • Supporting political prisoners and their families as they heal from trauma and rebuild their futures.

  • Advocating for the recognition of human rights violations and promoting justice.

  • Creating opportunities for individuals to thrive in freedom, with dignity and security.

At the heart of our work is a deep belief in the power of community, resilience, and hope. We aim to not only support individuals but also inspire systemic change toward a democratic and just society.

Our Main Projects

At the Association of Political Prisoners of Belarus (APB), we focus on raising awareness, developing initiatives, and building partnerships to support political prisoners and their families. Together with organizations and donors, we aim to create opportunities for real change.

Identifying and Understanding Needs

We are developing tools to better understand the needs of political prisoners and their families. By sharing this information with partners, we aim to help them deliver more effective and targeted support.

Building Legal, Emotional, and Social Support Programs

We are raising funds and seeking partners to create programs that offer legal advice, emotional recovery, and social integration. These initiatives will help political prisoners and their families rebuild their lives and find their place in society.

Creating Opportunities for Employment and Business

We are working to develop partnerships with training centers and businesses to support job readiness and entrepreneurship. Through collaboration, we hope to provide skills training and startup opportunities for political prisoners and their families.

Why Your Support Matters

These initiatives are the first step toward creating lasting change. We invite donors, organizations, and individuals to join us in making these ideas a reality. Together, we can bring hope and support to those who need it most.
